‎I know you played a part in setting this up

‎‎You know, you were there when I worked with President Addoo to drive this forward.

‎Britain tried to shut it down at the CHOGM in Samoa. I was there, and CARICOM objected and pressured Starmer to agree to have the work advanced to the next meeting in Antigua and Barbuda, where a formal position will be put before the Commonwealth. That was after the UK, in advance of the Samoa meeting, had issued a statement that the issue of reparation was not on the agenda.

‎We at CARICOM cornered Starmer and said, “Oh yes, it is on the agenda,” and we had side discussions towards a decision to have a Committee do some work and report.

‎This matter at the UN is a giant step, where Trinidad and Tobago who first celebrated Emancipation is being ignored by the UNC Government as they bolt themselves to Trump’s racism and Rubio’s call to Europe at the Munich Security Conference that it is time for Europe to awaken and regain its colonial power and be “great again.”

‎Trinidad and Tobago is supporting those US policies and programs, while the nation is silent under an absentee Prime Minister who, in a year, has not fielded any questions here from the media on these and many more weighty issues facing the nation.
