Reports: Ava McCall not happy with the TPP.
Following her recent revelations concerning irregularities in the Tobago People's Party screening exercise, activist Ava McCall has widened her critique, accusing the party leadership of fostering a climate of intimidation and victimisation.
McCall revealed that numerous party members are gripped by fear, hesitant to voice dissent or demand constitutional transparency. 'People inside the party are living in absolute fear of speaking their minds,' McCall stated, contending that internal democracy has deteriorated significantly. 'Individuals are terrified of being victimised, losing their contracts, or losing their livelihoods if they dare to question what the leadership is doing.'
The activist reminded the executive and supporters of the foundational promises made when the Tobago People's Party was established to break away from past political abuses. 'We walked away from tyranny only to watch the very same autocratic behaviour take root in this organisation,' McCall warned. 'This party was supposed to belong to the people, but right now a small clique is making unilateral decisions and expecting total obedience.'
Directly challenging the direction taken under the leadership of Farley Augustine, McCall insisted that the party must be reclaimed by its grassroots. 'The Tobago People's Party belongs to the people of Tobago, not to any single individual or elite circle,' she declared. 'I will not sit quietly and pretend everything is fine while the hopes of our people are being betrayed. We must stand up and demand that power be returned to the grassroots.'
