This i really positive news. Countries moving in the right direction. Just hoping they don't come and attempt to destabilize the region.

It IS and SO very crritical for our Region to ensure that our people are self sufficient and independent when it comes to feeding ourselves..

Cause frankly with how climate weather issues, geo-politics and geo socio-economics are shaping up, if WHEN the poop hits the fan, the Global North won't waste on single second to worry about who gets splattered...

we are down wind from all of their shenanigans and we know what direction poop rolls..

This is so important.. very good initiative by CARICOM. Cut the dependence on imports. I am old enough to remember when we grew most of what we ate and scorned pre-packed, mass produced food. We did not eat boxed cereals - ever. But parents were generous with the wheatgerm and of course the porridge and oats (made from scratch)

We have become addicted to convenience (foods) that have to be manufactured outside of our borders and region

You are right foods that are undermining our health. we have to get off sooner or later.

The sooner the better my brother - and it starts with each of us.

What we choose to buy, what we choose to feed our children (which literally affects what their palate/tastebuds get trained to like or dislike)

My chirren were considered "strange" to their peers because they didnt eat hot dogs or hamburgers and LOVED broccoli and cauliflower and squash, and salads, and veggies as a whole..

they were like that because we didn't tell them green veggies were yuck and "rabbit food" - they ate tomatoes like most kids would eat an apple or a mango - right out of a bowl sitting on the table where we kept them with the mangoes, apples, oranges and bananas.

Cuz it is true what they say - Charity begins at home

They've already been at it for DECADES - most of the region would be like Haiti if they had their way and can exploit the natural resources -- look at what they did for so long in South America (Columbia, Nicarauga) and even Panama

UNITY of the entire region moving and operating as one BLOC with one voice on food security, climate issues, human trafficking, GUNS is our only hope. We cannot trust the Global North to do the right thing and put our interests first.. ever.
