The 2026 Championship Run
The Knicks claimed the title in spectacular fashion after erasing multiple double-digit deficits throughout the series.
- The Clincher: New York came back from down seven points to start the fourth quarter in Game 5.
- Finals MVP: Jalen Brunson led the charge, capping off his historic postseason with a massive 45-point performance.
- The Drought: This victory ended a 53-year championship wait for the franchise, bringing the Larry O'Brien trophy back to Madison Square Garden for the first time since 1973.
Historic 1973 Championship
Before the 2026 title, the only other championships in franchise history took place in the 1970s.
- The Matchup: The Knicks defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in five games.
- The Roster: That legendary team featured Hall of Famers Walt Frazier, Willis Reed, Earl Monroe, Dave DeBusschere, and Jerry Lucas.
