Media Release | April 12, 2025
UNC’s Desperation Cannot Distract From the Facts.
It is ironic that after being caught on video intimidating a PNM “mic man” who was peacefully doing his job on a public street, the UNC would now attempt to rewrite the script and play the victim.
Let me be absolutely clear: the individual operating the sound system was engaged in lawful campaign activity—nothing more, nothing less. He was simply doing his job, peacefully promoting our message in a public space. What followed was an aggressive confrontation by UNC supporters that has now been twisted to suggest they were the victims.
To add insult to injury, the UNC’s candidate issued a highly inflammatory press release riddled with baseless accusations, laughably asserting that somehow the Mic Man was the aggressor. My attorneys have reviewed the release and advised that statements within it are highly defamatory. That matter is now in the hands of my legal team, and I will say no more on it at this time.
The video of the incident is in wide circulation, and I urge all citizens to view it. It speaks for itself. The public can see exactly who was provoking whom—and it wasn’t us.
I have also contacted the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service to determine whether any election laws may have been breached during this incident. No one—regardless of political affiliation—should be subjected to intimidation while exercising their democratic rights.
My campaign remains focused on the real issues that matter to the people of Chaguanas East: jobs, safety, opportunity, and progress. No amount of thuggery, distraction, or manufactured outrage will stop my team or me from moving forward.
On April 28th, I will be there—standing firm, standing proud, and standing up for the people of Chaguanas East.
