I was thinking the same thing - a measely 3 yrs? for shipping arms and ammunition that takes lives and wreaks havoc.. Let it had been where he did teef their money - it woulda been a life sentence.
Meanwhile the US Surgeon General has declared gun violence a public health issue...
The cognitive dissonance is astounding.. but here 'tis 'Murica - guns have more rights than people

My Belief is that is only the Haitian people can slove their issues not the north American alliance, not Caricom, only Haiti have the answers.
I have a different view. Yes Haiti has to be the MAIN player in solving its issues. But that cannot come about without help from it's fellow people in the Caribbean. We have literally been neglectful of Haiti as a region treating them as the "red-haired stepchild" and the "problematic" sibling.
Yes Haiti's governing powers that came into being after the revolution set up systems in place that did not truly lend itself to good (democratic) governance.
But if we are gonna be real - we need to also speak about how the Global North (France, Murica, UK, Canada et al) have fashioned ways to KEEP Haiti right where it is for TWO CENTURIES.
And the reasons are many here are just a few points:
- They Stayed VEX & Mad as a Poked Jhep Nest
- They're still butt hurt and licking wounds about getting their arses beat by a bunch of as they saw it: "ignorant, uncouth, rabscrabble enslaved people"
- It's about the Power / Freedom vis-a vis NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard):
- A tiny nation handing them their nuts, right in "Murica's back yard and the other colonizers still enslaved terrorities, was and still is - not something they wanted to catch on. It would have been the me-too movement of its time. (Side note: Why you think 'Murica still has sanctions on Cuba 60 plus years later?)
- It's about the money (IT's ALWAYS ABOUT THE $$$):
- 1st - Imagine the BILLIONS Haiti as forced to repay their very enslavers (France) after they freed themselves from beigng their chattel - money they didn't finish paying until just a few years ago (in the 21st century). Talk about adding insult to injury!!
This "Reparations Bill" was fully agreed to and was helped to be enforced by 'Murcia and the rest of the Global North (while the Caribbean region just whispered about it like they were talking about Douens to little children but did NOTHING) - 2nd - Contrary to what the colonizers will tell you - Haiti Has Wealth! Thar's GOLD in them thar hills! along with other natural minerals and resources.
Haiti is kept in a disrupted state (created and fomented by the global North) with governments that are willing to sell out their country's people and resources to stay in power and raid the treasury. This makes it easier for the colonizers to get their hands on that wealth.
- 1st - Imagine the BILLIONS Haiti as forced to repay their very enslavers (France) after they freed themselves from beigng their chattel - money they didn't finish paying until just a few years ago (in the 21st century). Talk about adding insult to injury!!
- Neo-Colonialism & Human Capital Resource:
- Let's not forget the cheap labour that's created because of the poverty levels that will exist because of the exploitation of the country's natural resources. Whether that labour is exploited in-country or as cheap (often undocumented) migrant labour in the Global North Countries. At the end of the day they benefit from the adverse conditions they help to create
- They can no longer just go in with guns blazing, snatch people up, put them in shackles and take their children, their language, their resources, their land - so they paint a picture of hell, gloom and doom with propaganda, cause the rest of the world to believe it - the nation gets shunned even more, and at the local level it ends up being a self-fulfilling prophesy
YES Haiti can help itself. irst move is to tell 'Murica and the rest of the Global North to GO POUND SAND and SUCK SALT. and form relationships allegiances and partnerships with other nations that can help them rebuild, and restructure - and I believe that CARICOM has a KEY Role to play in that. In fact I think we have a DUTY to help get hait back on its feet.
and that's my two cents (Ah have a whole Hundred $$ Opinion on it - but will leave it there for now)
- They Stayed VEX & Mad as a Poked Jhep Nest

There's a dustbin RIGHT THERE! and people just throwing the nasty crap on the ground right next to it?
And how does Shit get on the wall if someone didn't throw it up there or wipe it on the wall?
YES the management has to monitor things and make sure janitorial services are patrolling and as they say in the military "policing" (Picking up trans etc) the area
YES The medical staff should have more respect and concern for the patients and citizens
YES Condidtions MUST improve
WHERE WERE THE NURSES or NURSES AIDES or the ORDERLIES?
And Look how many people just WALK STRIGHT PAST that ailing elderly man and didn't give him the time of day... thank god for the ones who finaly did stop to help
But when will we start to take PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY For our Behaviour
What the fuck have we become...?
we talked about "PATRIOTISM" on one of our Fine PoinT episodes recently.. Well giving a shit about how you treat yoour environment, national resources, medical facilities, beaches, elderly, chldren, other abled, etc is a reflection of tour Patriotism.
Cuz you cannot "Love Yuh Country" and have no resepct ofr IT or it's people or its resources, spaces and places. Or for your damn blasted self!

This is what was circulating on Social Media. Tell me if these people either a Special Kinda Dotish, or they brazen like this because they know
- The courts have a revolving door and is easy easy bail (no jail in dey tail) and they go be back in the hood before we cn say Jack Robinson
- The have backers they feel/know are powerful and who want the work (Yes Ms. Earla putting pressure on they arse) the Police doing to stop so they using intimidation
- They just doh care, have no broughtupsy, no moral compass, lack humanity, have a live a fast (Criminal lfe,) die young and have de bredduhs pour one out for yuh over yuh grave
-
How is dumbo and them getting these kinds of weapons.
Good question... those dumb and dumber duncieheads doh have a posey to pee in or a window to throw t out of, but thye can affor to buy a weapon that is about $1,500 plus USD?
Plus they coming in from somewhare (imported) unless there is a gun manufacturing plant somewhere in T&T - and that means that the people working in customs are doing their imitation of Rip Van Winkle.
-
Ah hear Another one of dem gang threatening the Police too!

Pt Cumana Sharon comment up on YouTUbe on the video:
Big up the youth advocates! "Youth" have been fighting this fight since I was in secondary school in the 70's before it was called "Clime Change". But don't stop. Keep pushing.
Get more youths to get up stand up and fight for the necessary changes.
With that said, we do have some of the strongest environmental policies and laws in the region. The main issue is that it is hardly enforced and the problem is that people ignore or disregard the rules or just don't care!
As for whether SIDs whose economy is fossil energy dependent should give it up: It is "rich" coming from a citizen of the biggest colonialist state that exploited said oil and energy products coming to tell us that we shouldn't exploit our own resources for the socio-economical betterment of our citizens; By necessity, we are moving inexorably toward other solutions, but it is not something that one can turn off like a faucet!
It should be noted that the Caribbean region is doing MORE with regard to climate change than the BIG So-called "Developed" states who are the major cause of the climate situation. Our mangroves, the rain forests are helping to mitigate the damage the Global North has perpetrated on the world, because of those jurisdiction's greed and disregard for our planet.
So here we (SIDs) are.. 1.5 degrees is a very real thing and we need to keep pushing and pivot to "greener" solutions.
P.S.: But What kind of dotish question is that to ask to weather (Pun intended) to stay and fight for our country - are you going to abandon your homeland, which contributes more to the climate crisis than SIDs do? <steupes>

Hemp Yoghurt
Hemp yoghurt is very low in sugar and is ideal for anyone with a soya or nut allergy, whilst being rich in heart-healthy omega 3 fatty acids.
Hemp yoghurt is not readily available in supermarkets at present, but can be found in specialty shops online
Taste: Hemp yoghurt is slightly bitter, but will be rich and satisfying all the same. There is a sharpness about hemp yoghurt due to the lack of sweetness from the seed.
Typical nutrition per 100g: 38Kcal, 2g fat, 0.6g protein.
-
Almond Yoghurt
Almond milk yoghurt is high in vitamin E, which is essential for increasing skin health and vitality. There are also quite a few brands which carry almond milk alternatives, making this yoghurt pretty readily available in UK supermarkets and wholefood shops.
Due to the nut content, almond milk yoghurt is unsuitable for people with a nut allergy.

Taste: Slightly nutty and a little sweet — the taste of almond milk yoghurt slightly resembles that of marzipan. The sharp taste will vary per brand, but the higher the content of almonds, the creamier the yoghurt will be.
Typical nutrition per 100g: 97Kcal, 7.9g fat, 2.3g protein.
-
Cashew Yoghurt
Cashew yoghurt is naturally creamy, without the requirement to add excess thickeners. You can use cashew yoghurt in many recipes, from pasta sauces to savoury toppings on pizza and even as an addition to salads dressings.
Cashew yoghurt is quite a niche product, therefore it can be a little pricey to purchase and not readily available from all shops. You’ll need to scour the aisles or shop online to find this probiotic gem!

Taste: Cashew yoghurt is naturally thick, creamy and extremely silky. The taste is somewhat similar to that of cashew cream — slightly sweet and subtly nutty.
Typical nutrition per 100g: 98Kcal, 7.9g fat, 3g protein
-
Soya Yoghurt
Soya yoghurt is extremely low in calories, whilst providing a creamy base for the addition of other flavours such as vanilla and fruit. You can use soya yoghurt in a variety of recipes, and it works well in savoury dishes such as pasta sauces and chilli.
The sharp nature of the yoghurt often lends itself towards the addition of sugar by manufacturers, which can offset the beneficial nutritional value of the yoghurt itself. Look for soya yoghurts with no added sugar, as these can be sweetened by the addition of fruits and syrups at home if required.

Taste: Soya yoghurt has a tart flavour similar to that of plain dairy-based yoghurt, and has a medium thickness which is somewhat pourable.
Typical nutrition per 100g: 43Kcal, 2.3g fat, 4.0g protein.

Love Yogurt, but the dairy options just does not agree with your tummy (lactose intolerance or other symptoms).
Author Charlotte Willis Provides Some Delicious Alternative Options!
Packed full of probiotic and gut-boosting bacteria, plant-based yogurts are just as delicious as their dairy-based alternatives, and have the added benefit of being free from cholesterol and packed full of nutrients and flavour
Coconut Yoghurt
Coconut yoghurt is naturally thick and creamy, meaning that few thickening agents or stabilisers are required to create the delicious texture. What’s more, coconut yoghurt is low in sodium and sugar.
The sweetness of coconut yoghurt means it may be slightly too flavoursome for certain savoury dishes and individual palettes. The high-fat content in coconut yoghurt also makes it a delightful ingredient to enjoy by the spoonful, and not the tub

Taste: Coconut yoghurt is thick, rich, creamy and extremely moreish! Usually made from a combination of coconut cream and full-fat coconut milk, there is a slight coconut-y taste to this yoghurt, with a sweeter flavour note contrasting the sharpness of the yoghurt in a perfect balance
Typical nutrition per 100g: 131 Kcal, 11.5g Fat, 1.2g Protein.

Allyuh think it easy in 'Murica.. you cyah even order food and disagree with the fast food employees... at least all we does get in T&T is a looong watery steupse and ah cut eye 😅🤣🤣
QuoteIn newly released video, employee Alonniea Fantasia Ford appears agitated with Ramos. He is in the driver's seat, his wife is sitting in the front passenger seat, and their daughter is in the back seat. They paid $12.99 for a meal combo, the lawsuit states, but did not get the curly fries they ordered, prompting an argument. Not even half way into the dispute, the video shows Ford ready a gun. Minutes later and with another employee at the window, she throws ice and condiments, before firing at least twice at the family.

The sooner the better my brother - and it starts with each of us.
What we choose to buy, what we choose to feed our children (which literally affects what their palate/tastebuds get trained to like or dislike)
My chirren were considered "strange" to their peers because they didnt eat hot dogs or hamburgers and LOVED broccoli and cauliflower and squash, and salads, and veggies as a whole..
they were like that because we didn't tell them green veggies were yuck and "rabbit food" - they ate tomatoes like most kids would eat an apple or a mango - right out of a bowl sitting on the table where we kept them with the mangoes, apples, oranges and bananas.
Cuz it is true what they say - Charity begins at home
